News from the Nurse
10-15-2014: I am happy to report that illnesses have been at a minimum at LBMS over the past two weeks.  A few minor colds and stomach-aches, but nothing serious.  Students with asthma and allergies have been suffering the most due to changes in the weather and the high mold counts.  One case of Strep Throat has been reported in the 6th grade.  There have been no reported cases of Enterovirus D68 at LBMS.  I hope that we continue to avoid that virus!

All staff members had the opportunity to receive Flu Shots, and many teachers have been vaccinated. You may wish to consider getting Flu Shots for yourself and your student as well.  Discussing the option with your healthcare provider is a good idea.

As always, feel free to call me with any questions or concerns.
Kathy Sullivan

Community Coffee to be Saturday, October 25
10-17-2014: On Saturday, October 25, 2014 Lake Bluff Park District President Kevin Considine, Lake Bluff School District 65 Board President Mark Barry, and Lake Bluff Village President Kathleen O’Hara will be having coffee at Prairie Espresso (located in the Scranton Alley) from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and discussing current community matters. All are welcome to join in the discussion, ask questions and enjoy a brisk fall morning.

Student Absences

10-8-2014: If a student will be absent or arriving late, a parent or guardian must call the school at (847) 234-9407 or email athomas@lb65.org by 9:00 a.m.  If such notification is not received, the school will call your home, cell phone, or parent's place of employment.
In some cases, information regarding missed assignments can be accessed on the school's website at
www.ms.lb65.org, but the web site only lists homework, not work that was completed in class that day. If a student is absent for two full days, homework can be requested from the office when the parent reports the absence before 9:00 a.m. the second day of absence. It is recommended that parents (not other students) pick up the materials after 3:45 p.m. For extended planned absences, you must present a written note or email to the office one week prior to departure. The student will be given a pre-arranged absence form to be signed by the student's teachers and returned to the office.
