Recycling and Composting

Our new recycling and composting program started August 19th and the kids are really catching on.  Students are expected to separate their lunch waste into 3 separate categories—landfill, recycle and compost.  They are learning that RECYCLABLE items from their lunches can be made into products rather than taking up space in a landfill.  They are proud that their food waste and soiled paper products—COMPOST—will decompose to a rich substance used as soil conditioner for landscaping & athletic fields-reducing the need for costly and environmentally damaging fertilizers.
