May 2014: Monthly Update
Mr. Blackmer provides recent highlights: our 8th grade artists participating in a special ceramic firing technique known as raku, band and chorus students enjoying Six Flags after participating in the Trills and Thrills Music Festival, the spring band and choral concerts, and the annual charity basketball game.  It's golf season, so Mr. Blackmer provides a look at the Golf Team, in the middle of a good season.  He gives a final reminder of the winter weather makeup days and provides a "Mark Your Calendars" list.

April 2014: Monthly Update
In this issue, Mr. Blackmer commends the cast and crew of Annie Jr., and gives a list of the staff members who contributed their time and talent to the Spring Musical.  It's track season, and he shares a couple photos of the team, and gives a reminder about Bobcat Camps.  He lists the winter weather makeup days, and provides a "Mark Your Calendars" list.

March 2014: Monthly update
It's almost time to think about summer camp, and Mr. Blackmer announces that registration for Bobcat Camps is now open.  He reminds readers of the upcoming Spring Musical Annie Jr., talks about Close Encounters of the Chemical Kind sponsored by the Lake Bluff PTO, and shows a photo of Mme Szostak's 6th grade French students and their hand-made Mardi Gras masks.  Finally, he thanks Steve Slaughter for visiting the 8th grade Social Studies class to help students kick off their stock market game.  He gives a reminder of the school's cell phone policy, the winter weather makeup days, and provides a "Mark Your Calendars" list.

February 2014: Monthly update
Mr. Blackmer shares ways parents can help students prepare for the ISAT tests.  He explains the Project Citizen program, and introduces the Spelling Bee winners.  He shares photos of LBMS students at the LFHS Jazz Festival and congratulates the LBMS 8th Grade Girls Basketball Team.  Sport of the Month is Boys Volleyball.  It's time for LFHS registration, and Mr. Blackmer says he knows LBMS 8th grade students will do great things in high school and beyond.  Finally, he talks about discussions at LBMS that promote curiosity, global awareness, learning, communication and responsibility, and provides a "Mark Your Calendars" list.

January 2014: Monthly update
In this issue, Mr. Blackmer talks about how Lake Bluff Middle School students continue to amaze him.  He introduces the LBMS GeoBee winners, and shares photos of the 7th Grade production of Alice in Wonderland, the Winter band and chorus concerts and the Encore Holiday Tour.  He shares a photo of the Water Station funded by the PTO and Cheerleading and Poms, the Sports of the Month--and a photo of the teaching staff in their holiday sweaters.  He also describes the Bluffer Buddies program and provides a "Mark Your Calendars" list.

December 2013: Monthly update
The LBMS holiday season kicked off the first week of December, and Mr. Blackmer shows photos of holiday concerts at the school and at the Gazebo Lighting. He also provides an overview of the Veterans Day ceremonies with photos, and shows team pictures of the 7th and 8th grade Boys Bobcats Basketball teams.

November 2013:  Monthly update
Mr. Blackmer reports on what we’re doing to combat bullying, our 8th grade trip to Washington DC, and our 7th and 8th grade girls’ basketball teams (Go Bobcats!). He provides a list of events through the calendar year, and encourages parents to attend the parent workshop given by Rosalind Wiseman on January 21, 2014. The event is sponsored by Alliance For Excellence and Lake Bluff PTO.

October 2013:  Monthly update
A highlight of our month was United Day at LBMS, which revolved around working to promote bullying awareness. Students and teachers dressed in orange to show they're united against bullying. Red Ribbon Week, later in the month, had the theme of "A Healthy Me is The Way To Be" complete with daily themes. Also: reminders about Pumpkin Fest, Parent-Teacher Conferences and the LBMS Halloween Dance, and a look at Bobcat Soccer.

September 2013:  Monthly update
We're not even to the middle of September yet, and already there is so much to report.  The annual 7th Grade Outdoor Education/Lake Bluff Education experiences give students the opportunity to become better acquainted with teachers and fellow students in unique learning environments.  Let's take a closer look at the LBMS One-to-One Laptop Program, with comments from staff.  It's volleyball season: Go Bobcats.
